Current Events

Once again JMU is in the 2010 Recyclemania competition which starts January 31st. We are participating in all categories listed including waste minimization. Please help us during this time to continue to reach our three main goals in the waste minimization category, by continuing to support our surplus property program by donating your usable items and continuing using your reusable mugs in campus dining areas. We also created and put into operation a composting program at the East Campus Dining Hall.

Did you know JMU is now composting at East Campus Dining hall. Our first successful trail run weighed 3.88 tons which consisted of food and other compost waste. Normally these materials would have gone into the landfill without a composting program.

Hybrid Truck
Electric Truck

JMU Recycling has taken the next step in continuing its efforts to operate as environmentally friendly as possible. "GO GREEN"

As you can see above, our new Hybrid diesel trash truck and our electric truck. Both vehicles are used to collect recycling on campus.

2010 Basketball Season

"Get In The Game" "Recycle"

JMU Recycling is asking for you to be aware of our recycling efforts this year by recycling your aluminum, glass and plastic. Please locate your nearest recycling bins at the basketball games. So be looking for the recycling bins out there and "Get In The Game" RECYCLE!
