JMU now recycles all plastic containers numbers 1-7!
Did you know JMU is now composting at East Campus Dining hall, Gibbons and Festival. Normally these materials would have gone into the landfill without a composting program.
The next time you attend any of JMU sport events please take notice of our Recycling signs. Please place your recyclables in designated recycling containers to help us fulfill our mission in Recycling!
The mission of the JMU Recycling Department is to reduce the flow of waste and materials into the landfill, educate the JMU community on the proper disposal of waste items as well as the future impact of global waste stream issues.
JMU Recycling oversees all recycling, trash, bio-hazard, and hazardous materials generated on campus. Responsibilities also include collection of outdoor trash, recycling receptacles, ground litter collection, and pressure washing throughout campus and leased properties. Recycling is composed of eight full-time and 18 part-time employees.
