The Human Resources staff of Facilities Management recruits and hires all necessary departmental personnel. Potential candidates must complete an online application for consideration. Applications can be accessed on the internet at https://joblink.jmu.edu. If you do not have access to the internet, you may visit the JMU Recruitment Services Center, Virginia Employment Commission or the local library.
After applications are received, screening criteria are selected based on skills and knowledge necessary for the position. Upon completion of screening, the applications are reviewed by a panel of individuals who then select candidates to be interviewed. Once selected candidates have been interviewed, top candidates are referred to the hiring supervisor for a final interview.
All entry-level housekeeping positions are kept on continuous recruitment. These positions are both wage and classified and are offered on a variety of shifts. Please call to inquire for status and for shift availability.
Employees in the Facilities Management Department are valuable assets to our organization. All new employees are given the opportunity for orientation which provides them insight and understanding of the department as a whole and the important role they play as an individual in providing service to the James Madison University community. Orientations are held monthly and consist of a Power Point presentation, departmental video, learning materials and handouts. A time for questions/answers and feedback is also provided.
Initial safety training is provided for all new hires in trades related areas. Annual required OSHA training is conducted for required topics and to keep our employees up-to-date. Employee certifications and licenses are renewed as required. We encourage our employees to participate in job related training and to further their education. Employees should submit training requests to their supervisor and forms can be obtained from our office or on-line at:
